Chris Thorpe

CTA(Fellow) TEP, Technical Officer at CIOT

Having originally qualified as a barrister, Chris qualified ATT and CTA whilst at Grant Thornton

He is currently a technical officer at CIOT, prior to which he was a full time lecturer at Mercia and has worked in several accountancy practices including Haines Watts in Exeter over the last 13 years.

His specialisms lie within the agricultural sector and capital taxes and he still lectures for Mercia on a freelance basis

He spent several years on the West of England STEP committee, is a regular contributor to Tax Insider magazine and his book ‘Implied Trusts and Beneficial Ownership in Modern UK Tax Law’ was published at the end of 2021.
